Women’s Wild Med Program (WWMP)

Wilderness medicine courses for women, taught by women.

Desert Mountain Medicine was founded in 1998 by Nadia Kimmel, a woman with a positively infectious personality and the life-force behind the organization. In 2003, Outside Magazine voted her one of the top “25 Goddesses Who Rule”, recognizing the hard work and dedication that has placed her at the forefront of the industry. Today, DMM is uniquely run by a large female presence. Half of our students and instructors are women.

We understand the importance of all-women’s courses and collaboration. We aim to cultivate a supportive environment, positive experience, and provide confidence inspiring skills to mitigate and treat medical emergencies in the backcountry. We want you to be comfortable pursuing outdoor adventures, going higher, and further in a safer way. You can choose from a variety of hand-tailored courses to meet your needs, whether you are a recreational backcountry traveler or a professional guide we have you covered.
