International Alpine Guides proudly sponsors our Wilderness Medicine Courses though Desert Mountain Medicine, one of the top WFR providers in the country. DMM has been providing Wilderness Medicine training for 25 years and is one of the major wilderness medicine providers in the intermountain West. We are excited to bring their superior program to California. Their extensive peer reviewed and accredited curriculum provides an experiential and educational training for all levels of Wilderness Medicine.
Join us for a 5 day hands on intensive learning experience providing you with the knowledge and hands on experience to set you up for success to treat an injury or medical emergency in an extended care setting. This course is appropriate if you are working as an outdoor professional or simply want to take the next step in preparedeness for your next outdoor adventure. This is a hands on scenario based course that provides you with realistic learning opportunities to refine assessment and treatments of sick and injured patients in a wilderness setting.
DMM’s hybrid wilderness first responder (WFR) course format consists of a 30 hour self-paced, online instructional component, followed by a 50-hour in-person, practical component which takes place over five consecutive days. The online section is available on Canvas® approximately one month before the classroom section begins and consists of reading, case studies, videos, animations, and quizzes. The online material must be completed by the start date of the classroom section.
DMM’s certifications are accepted by all other accredited wilderness medicine providers for recent such as NOLS.
