Course Info
This is a Hybrid Wilderness First Responder course with 30 hours of self-paced, online work followed by 50 hours or 5 days in person learning. The online section is available on Canvas® approximately one month before the classroom section begins and consists of reading, case studies, videos, animations, and quizzes. The online material must be completed by the start date of the classroom section.

This course is open to the public and will be hosted at the Clear Creek Rafting outpost in Idaho Springs Colorado.
Course Location
September in Idaho Springs is beautiful with the average high temperatures in the 70's and lows in the high 40's. Idaho Springs is home to Mount Blue Sky Scenic & Historic Byway, authentic History, gold mines, shopping, dining, breweries, rafting, rock climbing, and soaking in the closest hot springs near Denver.
Planning Your Trip
This historic mining town sits at 7,500 feet in elevation. The weather in Colorado at any time of the year can change quickly. Be prepared for mountain conditions if you are camping, and keep an eye on the forecast when packing for your trip. A puffy jacket is a must most months of the year!
Lodging rentals abound in Idaho Springs and the surrounding area. If you're considering camping, West Chicago Creek and Echo Lake Campground are about a 30 minute drive from the venue and could be a good place to reserve a site. There may also be dispersed camping (free) in the area outside town. Be sure to give the Forest Service or BLM a call if you have questions about current rules or restrictions.
