Course Info

Our Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is designed for the outdoor enthusiast, trip leader, raft guide, or land agency field staff who want more than what an urban first aid course provides. The WFA is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. This training focuses on prevention, assessment, and treatment of environmental illnesses, recognizing and stabilizing life threats caused by trauma, and calling for a rescue in the event of a wilderness emergency.

The 2-day (16-hour) Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course includes basic life support (CPR infant/child/adult & AED), Wilderness Anaphylaxis Training (WAT) and covers injuries and illnesses common when traveling or working in the backcountry.

Registration Information

This is an open enrollment course and all are welcome! Just click the green register online button below! The course will be held at Old City Park, close to the Spanish Valley area of Moab, Utah. The park is 21 acres and has multiple roofed structures including a large picnic shelter and stage. There is also lots of shade trees. While there are picnic tables available for seating, we suggest participants bring their own camp chairs for comfort and portability.

Custom Courses

Wilderness First Aid courses can be customized to your organization’s unique needs. Custom courses may include specialty topics and techniques, customized scheduling and course progression, field-based and backcountry classrooms, and uniquely specialized instructors, among other options.
