International Alpine Guides proudly sponsors our Wilderness Medicine Courses though Desert Mountain Medicine. DMM has been providing Wilderness Medicine training for 25 years. Their extensive peer reviewed and accredited curriculum provides an experiential and educational training for all levels of Wilderness Medicine.
Join us for a 2 day hands on introduction to the world of wilderness medicine and patient care in an extended care setting. This is a hands on scenario based course that provides you with realistic learning opportunities to learn and practice patient assessment and other basic first aid skills. This course is ideal for camp counselors, outdoor trip leaders, SAR personnel, and every day outdoor enthusiasts looking to have another safety skill set. Most importantly this course will give you the tools to prevent injuries and illnesses from happening. This is a hands on scenario based course that provides you with realistic learning opportunities to refine assessment and treatments of sick and injured patients in a wilderness setting.
The DMM Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is designed for the outdoor enthusiast, trip leader, raft guide, or land agency field staff who want more than what an urban first aid course provides. The WFA is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. This training focuses on prevention, assessment, and treatment of environmental illnesses, recognizing and stabilizing life threats caused by trauma, and calling for a rescue in the event of a wilderness emergency.
This is an ideal course to add onto our AAI Avalanche courses and/ or Into to Mountaineering courses! Add them onto any of these courses for an additional 10% off your wilderness medicine training if taken in the same season as your additional training!
