Wilderness First Aid (WFA)
559 County Rd 3A
Canon City, CO 81212
Course Info
Our Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is designed for the outdoor enthusiast, trip leader, raft guide, or land agency field staff who want more than what an urban first aid course provides. The WFA is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. This training focuses on prevention, assessment, and treatment of environmental illnesses, recognizing and stabilizing life threats caused by trauma, and calling for a rescue in the event of a wilderness emergency.
The 2-day (16-hour) Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course includes basic life support (CPR infant/child/adult & AED), Wilderness Anaphylaxis Training (WAT) and covers injuries and illnesses common when traveling or working in the backcountry.
Course Location
This course is for employees of Journey Quest and will be held at the Journey Quest Rafting Royal Gorge Office. Class will take place in the large pavilion on the property. This pavilion has a roof, but no side walls (think pinic shelter). Please come prepared with layers and rain gear, just in case of challenging weather. May in Canon City is generally beautiful with daytime temperatures in the mid 70's and nighttime temperatures in the mid 40's. From time to time, afternoon showers roll in.
The course venue is only a few miles from the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, white water rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and both paid and dispersed camping!
