Wilderness EMS Recertification
The Wilderness EMS Recertification (WEMS-R) course will review the latest evidence-based science and best practices in wilderness EMS and remote medicine. WEMS-R course participants will review foundational knowledge and apply newly learned skills and guidelines via hands-on scenarios and simulations. Topics include: assessment and management of multi-systems trauma patients, pain management, a review of complex environmental medicine case studies, the assessment and management of mental health challenges in the field, and tips and tricks when faced with extended patient care. Our WEMS-R course is offered in a 2-day format and meets the WMEC's minimum requirement of 16 hours delivered in person, devoted to hands-on, practical skills and simulations.
Registration Information
This is an open enrollment course held in Leadville Colorado. Please click below to register online.
You must have a valid EMT/NREMT- Basic or higher and a WEMS (W-Upgrade) certification to register for this course.
Course Location
This course will take place 100% outdoors at Gold Bar Group Site, a group campground located on the Colorado River 15 miles NW of Moab, Utah off of Potash road (HWY 279). Lodging (camping) is included in the course cost. Check-in starts at 4:00 PM the day before the 1st day of the course and check-out is at 11:30 PM on the day after the last day of the course. Class starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 6:00 PM both days.
