Remote Hybrid WRC

The 24-hour R-HWRC begins with 16-hours of self-paced, online material. After which, participants will join their instructors for two interactive, virtual classroom sessions (totaling 8 hrs).  The virtual sessions consist of engaging multi-media lectures, discussions, and break-out-sessions to practice skills and collaborate with other group members on scenarios and case studies. We will provide updated guidelines in wilderness medicine based on research and best practices. We will also introduce new changes in patient assessment and rescuer PPE pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive a WRC, WAT and CPR certification, all valid for 1 year. Once we are able to resume meeting in-person, but before one lapses within that year, students can attend a 2-day in-person WRC practical session to extend their certifications for an additional 3 years.

This R-HWRC format does not replace the valuable in-person, hands-on practice session found in our regular courses, however, we are doing the best we can to accommodate our students during these unprecedented times. We feel comfortable accommodating field professionals like you, who already have a solid knowledge base and have an increased need for quality training with current industry standards. DMM is at the forefront of these course format adaptations and we’re excited to create new ways to service industry needs.

The online section will open by May 18, 2020 on CANVAS and consists of reading, case studies, videos, animations and quizzes. The online material must be completed by June 17th, 2020.

If your previous WFR or WRC was not with Desert Mountain Medicine, please send a copy of your current certification at your earliest convenience to: [email protected]
