VNTRbirds and Desert Mountain Medicine's Women's Wild Med Program have come together to offer 2 courses that go hand in hand in the backcountry. AIARE Companion Rescue and Wilderness First Aid for Winter Backcountry Users. Both courses will take place in Leadville, CO.

Wilderness First Aid for Winter backcountry users @DMM HQ in Leadville, CO (Feb 25-26)
· Traumatic Injuries Associated With Winter Backcountry Activities
· Winter Environmental Medicine
· Protocols And The ICAR Avalanche Burial Checklist
· Intro To Backcountry Communication Devices
· Winter Specific Litter Building and more!

Companion Rescue @ Fremont Pass in Leadville, CO (Feb 27)
· Identify and be able to use gear necessary for avalanche rescue.
· Set up a realistic scenario in order to practice an avalanche rescue response.
· Improve their response skills and times.
· Develop a plan for continuing practice.
· All students will have the opportunity to get feedback from an instructor on their rescue skills and timed practice in a realistic scenario.
